Effective Nov.1, the Selection Research Instrument (SRI) will be replaced by the District Executive Talent Assessment (DETA). The new DETA tool will make it easier to assess DE candidates and identify those with the greatest potential to succeed.
DETA is a required step in the hiring process for district executives. With DETA, candidates still complete the assessment online. However, the new tool will allow hiring managers to access results via the Gallup website and generate detailed reports. In addition, the tool is no longer a pass/fail measure. Instead, each candidate will receive a rating of Strongly Recommend (SR), Recommend (R), or Not Recommend (NR).
For more information about how DETA was developed, please watch this video that was shown at the Top Hands conference in August.
As we prepare for the transition, the SRI will not be available on Oct. 31. The new DETA tool will be live on Nov. 1.
On Oct. 31, all Scout executives, area directors, and regional directors will receive a toolkit via email from Gallup, including information on how to use DETA. Online training modules will also be available on the Gallup website and on the HR Gateway (under the Manager Resources tab, click on Employee Recruiting, then Hiring A New DE).
If you have any questions about using DETA, contact Carolyn Altemus at 972-580-2118 or carolyn.altemus@scouting.org.
